Iricent recognised as a Solution Plus Partner in the Intel® Network Builders annual Winners’ Circle Awards.

We are delighted to announce that once again Iricent has been recognised, this year as a Solution Plus Partner, in the Intel® Network Builders annual Winners’ Circle Awards. The award was achieved for bringing to market the Iricent NFV Cloud platform utilizing Intel® centric uCPE HW with NFVI SW, MANO and VNFs from leading vendor partners. Initial use case is uCPE and Edge Cloud deployment for Service Provider and Enterprise Customers – typically focussed on SD WAN, with other evolving use cases around Neutral Host for Mobile – specifically 5G deployment on vRAN and also IoT. “Iricent will be recognized as a member of the Solution Plus Partner in the Intel® Network Builders annual Winners’ Circle Awards, a program that celebrates outstanding innovation and business acumen that members of our ecosystem are bringing to the networking industry”. We are looking forward to even closer collaboration with Intel® and with our customers as we head into 2021. Working from Home with SD-WAN …. for less than the cost of a coffee a day

Remote working or working from home (WFH) has become the new normal and for many companies and their staff it is likely to remain a permanent feature of employment for the foreseeable future. As the network perimeter has moved from the branch office to the home office there is a pressing need for enterprises to apply the same policies (security, application prioritisation, etc.) regardless of the employee location or network device. Traditional VPN solutions, while providing security in the form of encryption, do not offer any solutions for application prioritisation or Quality of Service and in some cases can cause further problems by requiring traffic to be directed to a location that might not otherwise be suitable given the traffic type, SaaS applications for example. While SD-WAN has in recent years become the go to solution for enterprise WAN connectivity, deployment complexities and in particular the cost of SD-WAN hardware and licenses has meant that WFH with the benefits that SD-WAN brings has been reserved for larger enterprises and even then for key personnel. Not anymore. As a result of SD-WAN solution design and deployment advances in areas such as Cloud native economies of scale and Zero Touch Provisioning, SD-WAN can now be deployed in the home office for less than the cost* of a coffee a day subject as you would expect to some minimum term commitments. Remote Working (WFH) SD-WAN Use Case We have covered SD-WAN features and benefits in some detail in previous blogs. Key features for Remote Working / WFH scenarios are: Cloud Native Management Zero Touch Provisioning Intent Driven Business Policy Cloud Scale Visibility...

Ampliphae and Iricent Form Partnership to Leverage Advances in Software Defined Networking and Artificial Intelligence

Mobile World Congress, Barcelona, February 2017 – Ampliphae, a Belfast-based technology company specialising in cloud network analytics and control, and Iricent, a Dublin-based provider of SDN and NFV-based open networking solutions, applications and services, have announced a partnership aimed at helping Service Providers exploit advances in Software Defined Networking and network-based Artificial Intelligence. The partnership will enable Service Providers to offer new value-added capabilities to their Enterprise customers, enabling them to assert control of their application delivery infrastructure as they move business-critical applications to the cloud. Research firm IDC predicts that by 2018, 36% of the global enterprise application market will be cloud-based, presenting IT managers with unprecedented challenges in managing and controlling the new enterprise application infrastructure. The wide area network is becoming ever-more critical in delivering cloud applications to end users, with the same high levels of performance, availability and security as on-premise applications. From an Enterprise perspective, however, traditional networking services remain too complex, costly and inflexible to effectively support their transition to a cloud-first application delivery model. The Ampliphae/Iricent partnership addresses these challenges by combining the strengths of both companies, creating a compelling offering for Service Providers to give their Enterprise customers deeper insights and more control of cloud adoption across their businesses. Ampliphae uses advanced statistical analysis of network traffic flows, combined with machine learning techniques, to identify, classify and profile all of the cloud applications being used across the Enterprise. Iricent’s OpenDaylight-based SDN solution, APNOS, then uses this information, combined with other network traffic identification techniques, to automate the process of network resource allocation with application-level granularity, ensuring that business-critical cloud services are...

Iricent showcases MANO as a Service (MaaS) at SDN World Congress in October.

The Iricent MANO as a Service (MaaS) high availability, multi-tenant platform enables service providers to rapidly test, demo, trial and go-live with NFV based customer services. This unique proposition addresses the requirements of service providers who want to deploy NFV based services without the up-front investment in the necessary cloud based network management infrastructure and related resources. Aimed at both service providers and equipment providers, the MaaS solution removes the common commercial and resource related barriers to adoption of NFV and facilitates rapid deployment of new services for enterprise customers. Iricent MaaS leverages an existing eco-system of carefully chosen partner platforms to provide a catalog of existing VNFs which have already been on-boarded, in turn reducing the time to market for new services. Typical deployments to date are focussed on vCPE related services and leverage the benefits of packet processing technology such as DPDK on cost effective Intel Atom based platforms to ensure performance and throughput can be guaranteed. Speaking during the recent SDN World Congress in October, Damian Murray from Iricent commented, “over the course of 2015 and early 2016, our discussions with service providers kept coming back to two main concerns, the ability to resource an NFV deployment and the associated commercial risk. We quickly realised that we had the components and capability to address these concerns and are delighted to be able to showcase and demo the platform at this event and to offer it to customers and partners who wish to rapidly test, trial and deploy NFV services in a cost effective manner.” For more information on MANO as a Service and other platforms, visit...

Introducing APNOS at SDN World Congress

Having attended the SDN & OpenFlow World Congresses in 2014 and 2015 in Dusseldorf as a visitor, we are delighted to be back, in The Hague this year, as an exhibitor. The Iricent journey as a company founded two years ago, (just in time for SDN & OpenFlow World Congress in 2014) mirrors in many respects the industry developments that are showcased at the congress over recent years. As SDN & NFV move from concepts, use cases and proof of concepts to hardened reality in the form of market ready products and services, we have been on a parallel path. Today at SDN & OpenFlow World Congress 2016 we have launched our first commercial product: APNOS. Iricent APNOS is an OpenDaylight based application which enables end user enterprises to take advantage of cloud based feature rich networking functionality including network access control, prioritisation and optimisation without having to care about the complexity of the underlying technology or the costs of pre-SDN / NFV solutions. We are especially proud to have achieved the “Powered by OpenDaylight” registration for APNOS.  The “Powered by OpenDaylight ” trademark extends an OpenDaylight Project “seal of approval” to products built on the OpenDaylight platform by maintaining technical standards and by setting expectations for user experience across OpenDaylight-based products. If you’re attending SDN & OpenFlow World Congress 2016 we’d be delighted to have you drop by for a chat  – we’re upstairs – Booth...
